Thoughts from our Chaplain

Overflowing Thanksgiving

Thanks should not be a boring thing that we feel obligated to do as Christians. It should be an immediate response and come without reservation or even thought.
If we have an attitude of thanksgiving, we won't be able to contain our thankfulness, it will be overflowing. As thanksgiving overflows, it gives glory to God.
We should be specially thankful when God's grace is reaching more and more people through the gospel. there is perhaps nothing that should excite us more or cause us to give greater thanks than when another person becomes a Christian.
Of course thanksgiving can overflow from anything that we are thankful for. Any expression of thanksgiving gives glory to God because we recognize that He is the source of all that we have to be thankful for.
Most importantly however, Jesus is the reason for our salvation. Our thanks should overflow because of our own salvation but also in celebration for what God does in the lives of others as they become Christians.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Happy Thanksgiving

As we approach the Thanksgiving holidays, I think about what Paul wrote to the church in 1st Thessalonians 5:16 - 18, he said "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." We should rejoice always, because our trust and hope is in Jesus. He has never fail us or forsaken us. He is the friend that will always be there no matter what! Pray without ceasing. Are we praying as Paul said 'without ceasing"? We truly have alot to pray for today. Our Country and our Leaders. Our Troops that are here and abroad and our families. We really have alot to pray for these days. But Paul said in that verse 18, that in everything we are to give THANKS! As I look back since last Thanksgiving, I truly have so much to be thankful for both good and bad. Paul was telling us through the words of God that we are to give thanks in all things. As we set down this Thanksgiving lets give thanks for all that our Heavenly Father has brought us through both good and bad this past year and to remember "Rejoice evermore"!

God bless,
