The Reason for the Season

This is from our acting Chaplain Vickie Oakley that was sent to all the members of our ministry. I'm posting here in our blog for all to enjoy!

Good Morning Chrome Knights for Christ!

Hallelujah! What a day of praise and worship this is going to be! Yesterday was such a special day in more ways than one. It never ceases to amaze me how God extends His mercy and His grace! I watched with awe yesterday as god's grace and His mercy flowed through those young boys, I watched, I felt God's grace and His mercy flow through Chrome Knights as well. I shared with Danny and my pastor last night about the experience of yesterday and how deeply it touched me. The expressions of those boys as they opened their gifts; I saw once more the reason for the season so evident. However, as I watched the Spirit was also bearing witness to me that the Reason (Jesus Christ) is far more than just a season. the true miracle, love for all mankind of the Christmas season is to be held every day in our heart s and in our lives. Yes, the Reason- Jesus Christ is to be evident-is to be present everyday in our lives. Jesus taught His disciples, "Greater love hath no man except that he lay down his life for another." Oftentimes, we read this to mean that we should literally give up our lives for another and sometimes it does, but it also means to be willing to sacrifice, to provide, to serve, to love, with our hearts, our minds, our time, our money, our talents, ourselves. I know you understand what I am saying. Jesus also taught that we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves - another miracle that god accomplishes in our lives when we are willing to serve Him. I praise God for the opportunities that He provides for us to be part of His work. I praise God and thank Him for each and everyone of you. We are all unique in the gifts and talents that He has designed us with. Let us continue to use them every day in service to Him. My spirit was totally and completely filled by the Spirit through our visit yesterday. God is the only one that can call us to spiritual completeness.

"And now abideth faith, hope and love, these three but the greatest of these is love" 1 Corinthians 13:13 Let us share the love, the love that Jesus so richly bestows on us for more than just a season, but let us bare witness everyday!

Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year!

Always by His love and His mercy,

Vickie Oakley

Forming chapter CMA

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I have thoroughly enjoyed being the first webmaster for the Chrome Knights for Christ Forming Chapter for CMA. When I started this blog almost two years ago, we all had a vision of a Christian motorcycle ministry here in this area. And praise be to our Heavenly Father, He has bless us with one that is reaching lives in so many ways. You know I wasn't even sure that I could set up the blog, but it shows that it's not anything impossible with God! As we start the new year of 2011, we need to support our officers and to hold each one of them up in prayer for God to lead and direct them in the direction that He would want all of us to go.
I have already talk to Sister Dawn and told her that I will help her anyway that I can. I have confidence that she is going to do a great job. I want each and every member of the Chrome Knights for Christ to know that I love them and appreciate them. God bless each and every member!

A Day of Worship

This is being reprinted by permission from our Chaplain Vickie Oakley.

Lamar
Webmaster

Yes, here I am again, sitting at my computer. This morning I have been thinking about church service and mainly because it is Sunday. I will attend church today, the same church that I have attended since 1980. It is a small church and there have been times when I thought that it would not survive, but for whatever reason God has preserved a remnant. I teach Sunday school there and have for 14 years; I think that you probably understand that I love to teach especially God's Holy inspired Word. God's Word is the sustenance of my soul.It is like the air that I breathe, I can not face life each and every day without His Word dwelling in me.

In John 17:15, we find where Jesus said, "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one." Do you ever wish that god would just remove you from the obstacles that you face in life? Why do we face obstacles in life? Why can't life just be simple? Why can't life run smoothly? Why, why, why? Obstacles are a part of life. Sometimes it's easy to overcome the obstacles, but at other times, they seem to overwhelm us.

For Christians, I choose to believe that obstacles in life are a way of growing and maturing us spiritually. For non Christians, I believe that it is god's way of extending the call of salvation to a person. How is your spiritual growth? Do you desire to grow spiritually? We need to understand that God didn't leave us here for our purposes. He left us here for His purposes. And one of his purposes is that we grow more and more like Christ. What is spiritually maturity? According to Scripture, spiritual maturity is for us to become more and more like Christ. It is just that simple, but yet just that complex. So what is the key to spiritual maturity? God wants you and me to become more like Christ right where we are. Yes, in everyday life. Jesus didn't isolate Himself from everyday life. He lived in the midst of ever day life. He knows firsthand the struggles that each and every one one of us face.

Do obstacles or pressures of life affect your desire to grow spiritually? Or do you even think about growing spiritually? Are we being spiritual influences on the world or are we being influenced spiritually by the world? Spiritual growth must be intentional. If you don't choose to grow you have made a choice not to grow; however, choosing to grow is only part of the decision; you also must choose to obey. This is where the battle of the will happens and it will intensify.Satan isn't too concerned about your decisions; he is more concerned about your commitments. However, I will tell you from firsthand experience, there is incredible freedom in living life with God.

So how do we go about spiritual growth? To begin with you make a determination to grown spiritually by seeking God daily through the reading of Scripture and through prayer. When we seek God with all of our heart, He will make himself known to us. (Jeremiah 29:13) When we go to Him in prayer earnestly He will reveal Himself to us and show us great and mighty things which we do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3) God keeps His promises. God's promises are not just promises they are covenants. If you are struggling with obstacles in life, let me encourage you to seek God. Seeking God is a daily process in which we renew our minds through His Word and through prayer (Romans 12:2).

If we desire for our CMA chapter to grow, then we must make a committed effort to grow spiritually as well. Remember our mission: Changing the world, one heart at a time. It is my prayer that we will not let another day go by without committing ourselves to God's great plan; to be more and more like Jesus. I love you, I am praying for each and and every one of you. If I can help any of you, please call me, text me. I ask that you pray for me as well; specifically for my strength because I am so week. Have a beautiful day of worship where ever you may be.

Always by His grace and His mercy,

As I sit here writing this to you, I have been thinking back over the year 2010 and I have been thinking about the coming year as well. I can not believe that the year 2010 will soon draw to an end and a new year will begin. WOW! Basically, there is less than six weeks, that's right I said less than six weeks left in the year 2010. I have been trying to remember all that I have done and all that I should have done. I have come to the conclusion that for the yer 2011, I will make a concentrated effort to live life with passion. I truly believe that God intends us to live life passionately. I have developed a mission statement for the coming year, but I plan to begin using this statement now. My personal mission statement is: To live life with passion, with intent, with purpose, and to be obedient to God while teaching others about God's truth. For me, a mission statement helps me stay focused on what I believe God has called me to do. I want to make an impact for Christ, for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

As we prepared for the new year, I challenge the Chrome Knights for Christ, let us grow deeper in God's Word and pray that the Spirit will open our eyes of understanding to His Word that we may be about the mission of CMA: Changing the World (for Christ), one heart at a time. I believe that this means there will be times God will present to us people that we do not understand, like, or they may even be unlovable by our standards; however, they need Christ in their life. "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us," Romans 5:8 KJV. As members of CMA we are called out to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to the motorcycle world. This is our mission.

Saturday morning (11/20/2010), 9:00 AM we will meet at Fried Green Tomatoes, aka Pop's Restaurant (Hwy 84 between Opp and Andalusia) for breakfast and Bible study and then a ride. Unless the Spirit shows me different, I will be speaking on Love, I look forward to seeing all of you there.God bless!

August Secretaries Report

Well the month of August has been busy for the Chrome Knights! Our group has participated in two mission events. We collected and delivered groceries to a police officer and his family in need in Daleville, then we went to Beef O' Brady's in Enterprise for some food and fellowship. Then on Saturday August 21st, we met at Ino Baptist church in Kinston, for a prayer breakfast, prayed over Sunday School classes and teachers and all of us joined together with three Ino members to pray over the new playground and for the children that would be using it. We joined the Ino members and went to Samson to work on a widow woman's house. We did some repair work on the doors that wouldn't shut, changed out a lock, trimmed hedges, pressure washed where shrubbery had grown up on walls, pulled weeds. Installed new flooring in her bathroom, changed out light bulbs and cleaned areas she was not able to do. She has severe respiratory problems that prevented her from doing these things herself. Afterwards, we all went to Gaylen and Linda's for a much needed rest and some of the best burgers and desserts in South Alabama. Pool party was rained out but Linda had everything waiting on us when we got to Andalusia from our mission trip. The food and fellowship were great.
The most important thing from our August schedule was that we were doing what God said for us as Christians to do. God let us see the needs and gave us the blessing of being physically and financially able to do HIS work. To God we give thanks, glory, and honor for all He has done for us so that we were able to reach out to others. Without Him none of this would have been possible. Our god is and Awesome God.

I want to thank our Secretary Faye Kyle for this update.

Brithdays and Anniversaries for August

Well in just a few hours the month of July will be over and August will be starting. Well there are no birthdays or anniversaries for this month. That means no one is getting any older. I trust that everyone that went to the Alabama State CMA Rally was energized and renewed. I wished that I could have went but unfortunately had to work. But there is always next year if the Lord tarries.

Remember that August's meeting is this coming Tuesday night at our new place which will be Beef O' Brady's in the Dugout Room starting at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7:00. If you are not sure where it is located, its in the Westgate Plaza and that is across the bypass from the new McDonald's. Let's all be sure to be there and support the ministry that God has blessed us with and carry out the mission He has called us too. God bless!

We will be having our 3rd Saturday Devotion/Ride. We will also be having a bike blessing too. We will be meeting over in Elba at the Veterans Memorial Park next to National Security Insurance Company at 10:00 a.m. Bro Wesley Devane will be leading our devotion and we urge everyone to attend at all possible. Sis. Faye Kyle has made a beautiful flyer that has been put out everywhere for people to see. This has really been advertised so all members need to be there in force if at all possible. I know that there are some like myself that has to work on weekends and are not able to attend everything, but if you are off and weather permitting, please be there. This gives us an opportunity to pray for rider's bikes that might would never go to a church and also the chance to witness to them at the same time. I believe it was Sis. Faye that said at the last meeting that people would let you pray for there bikes before you could pray for them.
Let's be praying for a beautiful day, safety for all riding to the event, and for a great harvest of souls that can be won for the Lord. Look forward to seeing everyone there Saturday! God bless.

United Methodist Children's Home Weblog

This is from their Weblog:

Chrome Knights for Christ Roar into Headland

The Chrome Knight s for Christ thundered into our Headland boys group home at the Settlement, their motorcycles roaring with a lot of sound. Their five motorcycles and two pick-up trucks filled with family members made their third visit to the boys. The group is based in Andalusia and is a member of Christian Motorcyclist Association.

they were here Saturday, March 20th , to do a cook out for the boys. They had brought with them buns, hamburger meat, onions, lettuce and tomatoes, chips and soft drinks. they fired up their grills and soon had smoke and a delicious smell coming from them.

One of the boys was thrilled when told he could sit on one of the bikes and have his picture made. Another special time was when some of the bikers and their wives gathered around one of the boys, held hands and had prayer.

After all the food was ready, they moved inside to eat the delicious meal of hamburgers, chips, soft drinks and dessert.
I want to thank Bro Ray and Sis. Faye for sending this out. Hope to be hearing how things went at the Rattlesnake Rodeo last weekend where it can be posted too.
God bless!

Lord Prop Us Up

This was sent to me and I thought it was really good!

Lord Prop Us Up

Every time I am asked to pray, I think of the old fellow who always prayed, "Lord, prop us up on our leanin' side". After hearing him pray that prayer many times, someone asked him why he prayed that prayer so fervently.
He answered,"Well sir, you see, it's like this....I got an old barn out back. It's been there a long time; it's withstood a lot of weather; it's gone through a lot of storms, and it's stood for many years.
It' still standing. But one day I noticed it was leaning to one side a bit. So I went and got some pine poles and propped it up on its leaning side so it wouldn't fall. Then I got to thinking about that and how much I was like that old barn...I've been around a long time....
I've withstood a lot of life's storms. I've withstood a lot of bad weather in life, I've withstood a lot of hard times, and I'm still standing too. But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time,so I like to ask the Lord to prop us up on our leaning side, cause I figure a lot of us get to leaning at times.
Sometime we get to leaning toward anger, leaning toward bitterness, leaning toward hatred, leaning toward cussing, leaning toward a lot things that we shouldn't. So we need to pray, "Lord, prop us up on our leaning side, so we will stand straight and tall again, to glorify the Lord."

This is so true! Let's pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ today so they will stand straight and tall, to glorify our Lord and Saviour.

Prayer Requests

Please remember Wesley Devane's father Eugene Devane. Mr Devane has been sick for a very long time and is in flowers Hospital in Dothan now. We need to hold our CMA brother and his family up in prayer during this very difficult time. Knowing Jesus is the only thing that can bring peace at a time like this.
Also please remember my son and his family. They are going through some hard times that is really trying on their marriage.
God's Word tells us that He would not put more on us than we were able to bare. Let's really hold these families up in prayer and believe for everything to be work out to God's perfect will.

God bless!

Freedom from Pain

Please read and enjoy. We are truly bless to have Sis. Vickie as our Chaplain!

Bro. Lamar

In John 5:1-9 we find where Jesus heals a man who had been ill for 38 years.

After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the movement of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years, When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me." Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. (John 5:1-9)

This account of Jesus' healing is very interesting indeed. Why do you suppose Jesus chose this man? According to the scripture there were a great multitude of sick people. The scripture does not tell us what the man was afflicted with. It doesn't even really tell us that he was in pain. It does tell us that he had an infirmity for thirty-eight years and that Jesus knew how long he had been sick. Jesus asks the man, "Do you want to be made well?" The King James Version of the Bible says, "Do you want to be made whole?" In the Greek text the word used implies wholeness such as in mind, body and spirit. The man had been sick for so long that he was not certain that he did want to made well or whole because he begins to make excuses. "You see sir; I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up." How often are we guilty of making excuses? I can't do this or I cant' do that because I don't have this or I don't have that. No one will help me. You see I am not well; i am sick. W search everywhere for the answer to life and we fail to recognize the answer when He is asking, "Do you want to be made well?" He is within our grasp, but we don't reach out because we have determined that we can't be whole. It is easier to remain sick than to be made whole. It is easier for us to accept what the world says must be the truth instead of recognizing the truth.

Did you notice how the man believed the story about the angel stirring the water; that the water when stirred would heal him. We are so willing to believe what the world says, but doubt God's Word. If he could just make it to the water in time; people in pain will do almost anything to feel better. The use medicines, drugs, and alcohol to deaden or escape from pain. They will go from one doctor to another doctor seeking "someone to stir the water." People in pain long to be released from the pain the feel.

Did you notice how Jesus ignored his excuse and He didn't even wait for the man to decide, but healed him immediately. The man immediately took up his bed and walked. Jesus confronted this man. Why did Jesus choose this man out of all the others? I believe that Jesus understands the big picture and knows when He can accomplish either through healing a person's pain or through giving that person grace and peace in spite of the pain. We can and should pray for healing, but most of all, we need to pray for spiritual growth and maturity and that God will work through people's lives for His glory. God's power is often best revealed when He works through human weaknesses.

And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness" 2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV

God bless!

February 2nd Devotion

After reading this I thought everyone that sees our blog would enjoy reading this. I know that I was touch and bless by this devotion.

Fellow Chapter Members:

Tuesday night at our meeting our devotion came from Mark 5:1-20. In this scripture we find Jesus healing a demon possessed man. this demon possessed man had been exiled from normal, human contact, separated, set apart from family, friends and neighbors. The description of this man made me think of the way that many motorcycle gang are portrayed. We sometimes forget how important relationships are, but we were created by god for His good pleasure; therefore, relationships are very important. Our most important relationship is the one with Jesus Christ.

I would like to expand upon the devotion for Tuesday night as we begin to learn and think about the mission of CMA; Winning lost souls (motorcyclists) to Christ.

In Mark 5:1-20 we find:
Jesus' miracles and demonstrate His supernatural power, He is truly and only God has the power to change man's heart/life.
Jesus came from the other side of the Sea of Galilee to deliver a man dominated by evil spirits. the man lived amongst the tombs, considered by Mosaic Law to be an unclean place. Sin makes a person unclean in the eyes of God.
The Gadarene had superhuman strength, for he broke the chains with which they had tried to bind him. Just as chains cannot control the demon possessed man, neither can someones sin be controlled by moral and secular laws. What is needed is a new source of power in the life of the person. Only divine power can produce the needed transformation. No external force can bring about the internal change needed. Only new birth in Jesus Christ can bring this about. There are people today who act under the power of alcohol, drugs, anger, etc, tools used by Satan to keep them in his power. This man demonstrated from that under the influence of the demons, he could not find rest for himself nor let others be in peace. He knelt before Jesus and called him "Son of the most high God". Jesus did not want this recognition nor any act of worship motivated by Satan. The demon recognized the authority of Jesus, our Lord. his name, Legion could indicate that the demons were like a military unit ready for war against Christ. However, the Lord felt no terror when faced with so numerous an enemy. Instead, the demons had to ask Him for permission to enter the swine.John the Apostle wrote: "Greater is He (Jesus Christ) that is in you, than he (the devil) that is in the world." 1John4:4 When Satan could no longer influence the Gadarene, nor do more harm through him, he tried to reach the people through their possessions, the pigs. To the Jews, pigs were unclean animals and the Lord allowed these unclean spirits to enter into them. There are people, who like the pigs, love the mire of their pleasures. Their unsaved condition makes them suitable dwellings in which Satan can live. The Lord wants to free, to liberate, to save, those who are captive and in the control of Satan (2 Timothy 2:26) The pigs ran violently over a cliff into the sea and were drowned. The men who were looking after the pigs ran off terrified to tell what had happened thus the power of god had awaked an important reality. God is more powerful than any being, human or spirit.
The people in the city came and found the Gadarene changed in three ways: 1) Clothed; 2) Seated; 3) Sane.
The presence of Christ in his life had produced great changes. For the people in the area, the financial loss suffered by losing the pigs was of greater importance to them than the well-being enjoyed by the man. He begged Christ to go away; the request of the people for Jesus to leave shows their lack of interest in blessings He was willing to give. (Romans 3:11-12) The healed man wanted to be with Christ. Those who are truly thankful for the salvation they have in Christ what to be with Him and also with those who belong to Him. The now recovered man was given a new task by theLord, that of witnessing to others. He was told to return home and testify of the great things God had done for him. He was living proof of what the power of God can do. He obeyed for he wanted to serve the One who had given him such relief from his suffering. Only God can relieve suffering. Remember I said there were three way that it was evident that he had been changed? The first was that he was clothed. Dress in the Bible always has to do with a person's testimony before others. Second, he was seated. This shows his interest in learning from the Lord. The position of a pupil is seated, listening. For example, Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus, the learned doctors in the temple, Jesus was found sitting among them at 12 years of age. And the disciples with Jesus in the mount of Olives (Matthew 24:3). Thirdly, he was sane, in his right mind. His changed way of thinking made his behavior proper before the eyes of others. The change was evident in his way of speaking and of relating to others. Only the power of God can change man's heart and God can use the condition of man's heart to change him.
As we seek to further the mission of CMA, which is winning others to Christ, let us remember this passage of scripture and the Gadarene amn. We all need the power of Christ in us, everyday. There is a very powerful message in this account of Jesus with the demon possessed man. The message is HOPE. Hope that is turned to certainty when men call on the name of Jesus. As Assistant Chaplain, I encourage you to read and study your Bible. The Bible is God's direct message of His love to mankind. Commit the scriptures to your memory and write them upon your heart. I encourage you to read your Bible every day; I know from personal experience that it will make a difference in your life. Desides, the Holy Scriptures teach us (Ephesians 6:17) that the Bible is the sword of the Spirit and you will need it when you go forth to battle. And believe me, you will do battle, especially when you begin to win souls to Christ. I can assure you that Satan will come after you; so keep your sword close to you. You never know when God will use you to reach someone else.
Until we meet again, I will be praying for each of you. Remeber Wesley Devane's father and Wesley's family in our prayers, others who I am not aware of, but you are. I encourage you to read Ephesians 6:10-20, write it on your soul and pray in the word. "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of HIS might." Philippians 6:10. God bless and I love you all!

Always in His grace,

Getting the Ball Rolling for 2010

Well here we are starting a new year. The year 2009 is behind us and now starting out 2010. We had a meeting on January 5th and then had the Officers Meeting at Prattville on January 9th. Great things came out of both of the meetings. On the first meeting, we had our photographer Vickie Oakley to make the pictures for our officers that we would place on our CMA website. It is so good to have a professional in our mist! We really owe a debt to Vickie for the hard work that she puts into supplying me with photos of different events that can be put on our blog and our CMA website. There was other things discuss during that meeting including dropping the 3rd Tuesday meeting to meeting on that 3rd Saturday for a Bible study, then eat and ride or ride and then eat. Studying the Word of God together will be a blessing for all of us. There was also so things added to the events coming up in the near future. There will be no 3rd Saturday meeting this month due to Seasons of Refreshing coming up on January 29th and 30th. I want to encourage everyone to make plans on attending this.
The State Officers Meeting in Prattville on January 9th was really great. All that attended this I think was well please with all that went on. I tip my hat to David and Emily Hall for the hard work that they put into that meeting. And also Clint and Sandy Davis representing our section done a great job too. I was really shocked by how many people that was there. As you know it was a bitterly COLD day but that didn't discourage people from being there. After lunch we broke out into individual groups to meet and learn more about what we could do to improve our job with the position we held. Those making the trip that day was Gaylen & Linda Grigger, Danny & Vickie Oakley, Ray Kyle, Wesley Devane, David "Shorty" Short and myself.
We need to continue to pray that God will lead us and guide us in the direction that we can go to do the best for Him. Chester Holyfield made a statement that day at the meeting and I thought it was so true. Every time we ride our bike, we need that vest on with the CMA patch on the back where we can let people know who we ride for. Let people know that their is a CMA forming chapter here in Andalusia, Elba, Opp,Coffee Covington County, and everywhere we go. The door will be open and we will have a chance to witness and testify about our Lord and Saviour. God bless!
